Ubuntu may be better than Windows for users who value speed, security, and open-source flexibility. It’s lightweight, runs efficiently on older hardware, and boots faster than Windows. With fewer background processes, it’s often more stable and less prone to crashes.

Ubuntu is free and includes a powerful suite of software right out of the box. It's also far less vulnerable to viruses and malware. Developers and tech enthusiasts prefer Ubuntu for its powerful command-line tools and package management. Plus, updates are user-controlled and non-intrusive, unlike Windows' forced restarts. For many, Ubuntu offers a cleaner, more customisable, and privacy-respecting experience.

"In my personal experience, Ubuntu was the best choice for productivity and efficiency on my laptop. Unlike Windows, it runs smoothly without unnecessary bloat or slowing things down. Given that Windows 11 now requires specific hardware—requirements that many older but still capable laptops don’t meet—I didn’t see the point in buying a new device just to stay within Microsoft's ecosystem. It feels more like a push for profit than a genuine upgrade for the user experience. While Windows 11 may perform well on newer hardware, locking users out based on arbitrary hardware cutoffs seems short-sighted. There are plenty of excellent alternatives like Linux that allow users to keep using their existing devices effectively. In the long run, this kind of restrictive approach might drive people away. Profit-driven decisions don’t always lead to profit—especially when users feel excluded or forced into buying something new."
